You and I marched in the Portland Gay Pride Parade today with our friend Medina and the Port of Portland folks. We got there a bit earlier than we needed to and had to wait around for a bit. But, once it got started you seemed to have fun waving at the crowd!
"It's not only children who grow. Parents do too. As much as we watch to see what our children do with their lives, they are watching us to see what we do with ours. I can't tell my children to reach for the sun. All I can do is reach for it, myself." -Joyce Maynard

Lawn Mowing King
Last night we went out to Jan Fults' house for a graduation party for her daughter, Ashley. You enjoyed having room to roam. Didn't really want to eat dinner with me; you were more interested in eating Auntie Christy's dinner and playing on the lawnmower. Laurie took this cute picture of you and sent it to me.

First Trip to the Dentist
Today was your first trip to the dentist. It was pretty drama-free. You sat on my lap while the dentist counted your teeth (8 on top and 8 on the bottom) and said you did not have any decay. Can't believe he could really see them but oh well. You have 4 more to go and you'll have your full compliment of baby teeth! Way to go buddy.

Kayaking Again
We spent today on the water again and you just loved it. You are such a water baby! Maybe because your mom is a water baby :)
We put in on the Luckimute at the new "paddler's access." We all decided the term "paddler's access" was quite a stretch but we managed to get in and had a great time.
We stopped at Buena Vista and had lunch. There was way too much power-boat traffic. The group decided next time we would go just past Buena Vista and eat lunch at the Rogue Brewery pull-out.
We continued on to Independence and took out there. We wore a lot of sunscreen but you can certainly tell we all were out having fun in the sun! You didn't even nap this time. The only potential meltdowns were when you thought you should train to be a dragon boat tiller by standing up. We have one rule in the boat, you have to either kneel or sit...no standing :)

Fun at the Library
You and Daddy have fun at the library each Friday. Today, Daddy texted me this picture with the note: "Dylan doesn't want to be a storm trooper when he grows up." When I asked if he was sure he replied, "He wants to be a storm pooper."
I never know what kind of text I'm going to get from the two of you :)
After I posted this, your Dad sent me another picture with the note: "Mt. Sqawkmore"

Tia Medina
None of us thought to take a picture until the evening was over but I still wanted to share some thoughts with you.
The three of us had dinner with Tia Medina last night. What a blast! Good food and good friends! You are such a loved little guy. Here are some of the thoughts Tia Medina posted on Facebook this morning:
Best evening with good friends starts with a good Cabernet, carrot ginger soup, Mediterranean mixed olives with cheese in a vinaigrette,, to start, then lamb chops, quinoa with my secret spices, steamed veggies, fresh baked bread, oh and the baklava, mmm the baklava will be the perfect finishing touch. I love violating the 'rules' and mixing multiple cultures in one meal.
Nekidness, wild abandon, wrestling in the bed, stumbling to the car with an empty shot glass in one hand and a wine cork in the other... yes sir!, that's my nephew. I claim him!! He isn't even two years old yet. But I am sure we were cut from the same cloth, fruit of the same tree, birds of a feather, and twins of another mother. He has stolen my heart :-) Can't wait to march at Gay Pride with him :-)
the kid knows how to live :-) next time we go to the park and draw with chalk all over the sidewalk. he'll be a graffiti artist in no time ;-)
that kid is awesome. we got a lotta ground to cover this summer... i have the extra large pack of sidewalk.chalk :-D
Your Dad and I think you're pretty awesome too and I know you've stolen a lot of hearts already! Love you little guy.

Being a Toddler is No Walk in the Park...
Or is it? This is the photo your Dad sent me today. Looks like you were walking just fine at the park :)

Relaxing Kayaking Trip
Today, almost as a last minute thing, you and I went kayaking with Lisa and our new friend Casle. Turns out Casle is a children's librarian at Stayton Library...so she was a lot of fun! She took this picture of the two of us. It sprinkled a little and then cleared up. Never really got sunny but we didn't care. You were good the entire trip from Independence to Salem even though we didn't stop! Thanks again for spending the day with me on the water.
